We have published a video interview with Ms. Mariko Kitahama, Assistant Manager, NEC Corporation, who participated as a speaker at the GHIT R&D Forum 2024 held in December 2024.

In the interview, Ms. Kitahama discussed NEC’s efforts to address global health challenges through the power of technology, drawing on her extensive field experience with fingerprint verification systems for young children and maternal and child health monitoring. NEC is currently collaborating with international organizations and local partners to leverage Japanese information and communications technology (ICT) to improve vaccine delivery and access, contributing to global health from a technological perspective.

Reflecting on her experiences living in Kenya, Ms. Kitahama emphasized the importance of partnerships across private and public sectors—government, academia, and international organizations—echoing GHIT’s approach. She also highlighted how working together with multi-sectoral stakeholders could widen the range of approaches and impact of global health initiatives.
